e-mail

i have these guys in the company that i am trying to start that just dont respond to e-mails. how can you do that in this world. seriously, get with the times...snail mail is done with...catch up to the rest of your generation and start acting like the days of taking days to get a response is over. being on blogger, i know you all might have a slight bias since you are on the upper scale of the computer apt users; however, what do you all think about it taking 3 or 4 days to respond to a simple e-mail (i.e. "please e-mail me back to confirm that you will be @...blah,blah,blah...")?

Professional=prompt response and courteousness to business and personal etiquette.

Unprofessional=the opposite, perhaps due to lack of experience in business or upbringing in a culture where etiquette is minimized. It will be a hinderance to a professional career at some point.

i sure hope when i get older than i am now and technology gets even more advanced that i will still continue to learn about it and not be afraid or intimidated by it just cause i don't know all about it.
that being said, if these people are older they may not check thier email as often as others. i know my parents only check thiers like once a week and my moms myspace she checks even less than that.

I hear ya on this one, frad. This is a major frustration for me as well.

On the other hand, my special lady does best by calling people and it works for her. Do your buddies have phones they'll answer?

i understand the age thing, but i don't care. if it's part of your job to receive e-mail, then it's implied that your job also requires you to respond to them. i fired people at my old job for not answering e-mails (which caused missed deadlines, etc.) and i never felt bad about it.

These guys better get with it. I read an article just this week about the fact email is becoming the new snail mail in the workplace with the younger people espousing IM and other methods of instant access and response.
