My Suprise

At Cru this week an old friend and Cru leader came back as a speaker for the night. She was the prayer leader all last year and was heavily involved with the ministry. Almost needless, but apparently not, to say...she was a big part of people's lives and when she left for seminary last August she was, is, and has been missed a lot. She's just one of those people that encourages and brings life by living Jesus. And somehow she did that without being saved!

Backtracking... Something I noticed, but never really thought was a major concern, was that she questioned at lot of things about God. What I didnt know is that she was getting frustrated because she wasnt getting answers from God...so frustrated that in October, in the middle of seminary, she actually said, "ok God, I'm done, I'm over it...this isnt real and this isnt working." Then she read Ex 3 where Moses, not the giant @ Hillside, but the dude in the Bible, was asked by God to go talk to pharaoh and set the Israelites free. Well, Moses had questions, and in the end he told God, "no way man". Then, right when Moses turns to run from God, God confronts Moses and puts him in his place and Moses becomes the great man of the Bible that he does.

At that moment something clicked in this girls head. She had been asking all these questions and getting frustrated, but what she didnt even see was that she was overlooking the most important part of God. JESUS. She was so consumed by the questions she WANTED answered that she forgot to concentrate of Jesus and what His life and love meant to her. She said that this last October was the true moment that she had been saved!

What an amazing testimony it truly is for her to say that she had been a Christian zombie, just walking around going through the motions, all the while tied down by the enemies straps. Satan isnt called the deceiver for no reason - the dude has game when it comes to fooling us and that is just one of the many ways that he can put us in bondage. My joy in hearing that she had overcome this thing was so unexplainable. Thanks to God for being so great and good and meeting her where she was at...pulling her up and out of the mud...cleaning her off...and repairing the brokenness. Oh man, God is so good.

Jamison, you blog reminded me of the scripture where Paul writes that Jesus is faithful to complete the work he has started in us. Also, the Proverbs where he says he'll keep our feet on the path and where he says we may trip but he'll keep us from falling.

Great stuff! As you already said, God is good!

Encouraging . . .
